Age-Friendly Volunteer Program Coordinator
Background
The Age-Friendly Program provides community-based social supports for older adults creating a safe and supportive environment for older adults to age well in their homes and communities. The supports include in-home supports, meals on wheels, Senior’s CHOICES, Nav-CARE; volunteer drivers; community kitchen; information/referral/support; public information and awareness; assistance with government forms; and volunteer income tax program.
Description
Flagstaff FCSS is seeking a dynamic individual to champion and provide leadership for the Senior's CHOICES program and Nav-CARE. The job consists of four essential roles: orientating and mentoring volunteers; identifying persons with navigation needs, providing public education; and supporting capacity building. This is a part-time, fixed-term position, working 28 hours/week, Monday to Friday – with the understanding that flexibility is required.

Responsibilities
The Volunteer Program Coordinator assists the Program Director with the overall direction and outcomes of the Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE programs, especially with respect to direct service delivery and including:
Leadership and Supervision
- Supports and fosters the mission, goals, and guiding principles of the Senior’s CHOICES Program and the Nav-CARE program;
- Assists the Program Director in modeling and teaching social support practices to volunteers and participants during program implementation.
Program Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Works with the Program Director, other Senior’s CHOICES, and Nav-CARE staff, and CDFCSS staff and to plan/design, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs for older adults.
- Orientating and mentoring volunteers – screen volunteers to determine suitability; facilitate volunteer educations; match volunteers with older adults; provide ongoing education and support for volunteers; evaluate volunteer satisfaction
- Identifying Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE clients – determine population in need of a navigation approach; educate healthcare providers and social services providers about Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE; provide easy referral for social care; determine suitability of persons for the Senior’s CHOICES and/or Nav-CARE service; conduct intake of clients; monitor client satisfaction, access to services and engagement
- Assists the Program Director with efficient and timely monitoring, reporting, assessment, and recommendations based on program statistics, outcomes, and achievements.
Operational and Financial Management
- Assists the Program Director with financial planning and administration of the Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE program;
- Assists the Program Director with day-to-day operations by maintaining adequate, appropriate operational and statistical records of all applicable program activities and assisting with external and internal communications;
Client and Public Relations
- Promotes and practices excellent public relations with clients, program participants, their families, other Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE clients and personnel, and the community in general;
- Providing public education – determine community groups who might have an interest in Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE; give presentations to interested groups; provide the public with updates of the Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE program;
Community Partnership and Liaisons
- As directed by the Program Director or initiated by staff, cooperates with other community programs serving Senior’s CHOICES and Nav-CARE participants, resulting in linked services where applicable and feasible;
- Be an ambassador within the community of senior’s services, liaison with agencies as needed about client and potential needs and work collaboratively with support agencies or organizations;
- Supporting capacity – support volunteer education and ongoing development; share resources

Knowledge, Education And Experience
- Degree or diploma in a human service field, or equivalent education and experience
- Minimum two (2) years experience working in human services field
- Ability to provide compassionate, client-centered, trauma-informed services
- Excellent interpersonal, inter-professional team skills; excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, organizational and planning skills
- Comfortable working independently; available some weekends and/or evenings
- CWIS check and criminal record check required;
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License, reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, and clean driver’s abstract
