Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable HomeMaker to provide essential light, cleaning services for older adults, ensuring they live in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. The HomeMaker will be responsible for performing light housekeeping duties, and assisting with tasks, such as grocery & prescription delivery which promote a healthy and hygienic living space. The role requires a deep sense of empathy, attention to detail, organizational skills and an understanding of the unique needs of older adults. 

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning & Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning duties, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, changing bed linens, cleaning bathrooms, and sanitizing kitchen surfaces.
• Laundry: Wash, dry, and fold, clothing and bedding, ensuring that items are cared for with attention to detail.
• Organizing: Assist in keeping the client's living space organized, including arranging personal items, decluttering, and maintaining an orderly environment.
• Waste Management: Empty trash cans, dispose of waste, and manage recycling according to the client’s preferences.
• Client Care: Provide companionship and engage with clients while performing tasks, ensuring they feel comfortable and respected throughout the process.
• Safety: Ensure that the living space is safe, identifying potential hazards such as tripping hazards, and helping to arrange the home in a way that promotes ease of movement and safety.
• Seasonal Cleaning: Performing household tasks that are usually done once or twice per year, if the client is on regular service from HomeMaker services. 
• Special Requests: Provide assistance with any additional housekeeping needs as requested, such as preparing light meals, accompanying the client on errands, or assisting with occasional special tasks.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in housekeeping is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•  Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, with an understanding of the needs of older adults. 
• Patience, empathy, and a respectful attitude toward clients.
•  Ability to perform light physical tasks, including lifting or moving objects, as needed.
•  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Criminal Record Check, with the vulnerable sector is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification required
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required

Working Environment

•  The HomeMaker will primarily work in the client’s home, which may include private residences, senior apartments, or assisted living facilities.
• Flexible hours are available, with shifts based on the client’s preferences and needs (e.g., daily, weekly, or bi-weekly visits).
• The position may involve working with clients who have limited mobility, cognitive impairments, or other age-related conditions.

Compensation

• Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications according to Camrose & District Family and Community Support Services policy.
