This society promotes educational and friendly relationships between Camrose and the City of Kamifurano, Japan.

We are a group of grandmothers and grand "others", from Camrose and area who are committed to supporting the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign by raising funds to assist the African grandmothers as they care for a generation of orphaned grandchildren and others affected by HIV/AIDS. The Grateful Grannies currently consists of over 90 members and welcome new members. The group can give a presentation to any organization interested in learning more about the campaign and how you get involved. We host fundraising events including Christmas markets, cookie sales, dinner and local Stride to Turn the Tide walk around Mirror Lake in June. Sahakarini helps the poorest of the poor in developing countries to help themselves improve their quality of life. We do this by working together with project partners in the receiving country on programs in education, health, economic and community development. The emphasis is on initiatives and improvements which can become self-sustaining and will foster the development of women and girls.
