Assist the Twists & More kitchen in creating, plating, and delivering homemade, fresh & frozen meals to thankful community members.

Role Description

Meals on Wheels volunteers have the opportunity to assist the Twists & More Bakery in creating, plating, and delivering homemade, fresh & frozen meals to thankful community members. You will play a part in supplying older adults with healthy & nutritious meals along with peace of mind by volunteering for one or more of the following: 

  • Kitchen Helper: Prepping, plating, and organizing fresh & frozen meals to be delivered by volunteer delivery drivers.
  • Delivery Driver: Delivering fresh & frozen meals to appreciative clients along a pre-assigned route. The ability to read a map would be beneficial in this position. 

Goals of Service

Meals on Wheels aims to allow older adults to age well in their homes by providing individuals with homemade meals provided in reheatable, reusable containers in order to eliminate stress on the mind & body caused by cooking, combat malnutrition & diet related illnesses or health conditions, and ensure the older adults in our community have access to delicious and affordable food options. 

Time Commitment

Both of these volunteer opportunities are flexible! You are able to sign up for as many or as little shifts as you would like! 

  • Kitchen Helper: Mondays & Wednesdays from 2:00pm-3:00pm.
  • Delivery Driver: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:30am-12:30pm. 

Volunteer Requirements

To be a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you will need the following:

  • A Volunteer Application Form
  • Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check 
  • A full Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (if applicable)

Create an account for Better Impact and fill out our online application form with your personal information and areas of interest.

Step 2: Meet With Volunteer Coordinator

We'll discuss your options and address any questions. After that, we'll contact your references. If everything is in order, you'll need to apply for a police information and vulnerable sector check.

Step 3: Complete
Training

Once accepted, you will need to read our volunteer handbook, and complete training to prepare you
for your volunteer role.
